The Oral Economic Criminal Court 1 convicted the former heads of Federal Planning, General Directorate of Customs and Road Concession Control Body (Occovi), in the process that took place in the AMIA room of the federal courts of Comodoro Py.

The debate began in March of this year, carried out by judges Diego García Berro, Ignacio Fornari and Luis Losada. During these months De Vido was tried; Echegaray and Claudio Uberti, as well as customs officials. Instead, the representative of the public ministry asked that De Vido be sentenced to five years in prison for the crime of “currency smuggling.” following the entry into Argentina of the Venezuelan businessman. In the final stage of the trial Agüero Vera also claimed four years and ten months in prison for Uberti for the same crime.

The criminal offense is “attempted smuggling of foreign currency imports, aggravated by having involved more than three or more people and because the accused are public officials,” whose expected penalty ranges fromtwo to eight years in prison.In addition, the prosecutor requested that De Vido and Uberti receive sentences of three and two years of disqualification from practicing commerce and holding public office.

The prosecutor requested two years of suspended prison for the crime of “cover-up” for the head of the Customs Inspection and Operations Division of the Aeroparque Division of the AFIP-DGA,Guillermo David Lucángeli; the person in charge of Customs Control of the Aeroparque Office,Maria Cristina Gallini; the former customs official,Jorge Lamastra; and the director of Customs Inspection and Operations of the Ezeiza Customs Directorate,Rosa Nélida García.
