The Minister of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, Carolina Arredondospoke with Cooperativa about the three months of management he has carried out in his current position.

A period full of controversies that include the rejection of the Frankfurt Book Fair, the withdrawal of works from the Venice Biennale and the closure of the museum network throughout the country for budgetary reasons.

«We have been in permanent conversation with Heritage workers. It is an issue framed in the Budget Law, it carries commitments from previous authorities,» the authority told El Diario de Cooperativa.

He also added that «it’s my turn to work with a budget that had already been created. «All institutional dialogues have focused on resolving these conflicts.»

Expectations in Cultures

He also referred to the expectations that existed in the cultural sector with the arrival of President Gabriel Boric to power. Although the left has been a political sector close to the world of culture, management so far has not been as expected and Arredondo also believes it.

«We have two years left to reverse that look. I still have a critical view. We have time against us. Several of the tasks I have been doing have to do with reverse that feeling that exists thanks to expectations. «We are working to resolve some contingencies,» she said.

The Minister concluded by saying that «today culture, on the political side, has a lot of support.»
