The Minister of the Interior, Carolina Toháconfirmed this Thursday that the border crossings of Chacalluta, Colchane and Chungará, all in the north of the country, They will begin to serve 24 hours a day starting May 15.
Within the framework of her visit to the Tarapacá Region, the Minister of the Interior highlighted the importance of this measure and the good disposition of the Bolivian authorities, especially for the border crisis that affects the country.
«We asked for collaboration from neighboring countries to coordinate. In February we specifically made a request to Bolivia in order to seek an extension of service hours in Colchane. We received a satisfactory response a few days ago., which allows us to say that the planning that had been done will be able to be fulfilled«said Tohá.
Likewise, the authority indicated that they hope that «from the second half of May we will have full hours operating 24/7 not only Colchane Pass, but also that of Chacalluta and Chungará«.
As the minister explained, this measure –which will mean an investment close to a billion pesos– also seeks to improve the habitability of personnel working at border crossings.
Regarding the case of the Colchane border crossing, it was announced that They are working on improvements and increasing the number of officials -close to 60- to be able to open the premises 24 hours a day.

TOHÁ’S VISIT TO TARAPACÁ
